The Chilterns, the first entirely new-build development in Marylebone for five years, is marking its rareness with a one-off offering for buyers when it launches this month. All 44 properties – priced from £3m – come with an original framed photograph of Marylebone by David Bailey, each worth around £20,000.
“The Chilterns is setting a benchmark in high-end development projects and setting a trend for utilising original art,” says the project’s interior designer, Rabih Hage. “Others will follow in its footsteps.”

(Reuters) - Asking prices for homes in London jumped 10.2 percent between early September and early October, property website Rightmove said on Monday, fanning concern that a bubble may be forming in the capital.
The rise - the biggest monthly jump since the series began in 2002 - took annual price growth to 13.8 percent, more than five times the rate of inflation.

Widespread aspirations to home ownership in Britain make property a major driver of the economy and a housing market crash could shatter the recovery which has only recently begun to take hold in Britain, years after the global credit crisis undermined its banking sector.

UK House Price Growth Continues Amid Widening Supply-Demand Gap - IBTimes UK

"House prices grew by 0.5% in October driven by a widening gap between supply and demand and above average growth in prices in London and the South East," Richard Donnell, director of research at Hometrack, said in a statement.
"A chronic lack of supply is driving price growth. The supply of homes for sale fell by 1.6% in the month following a 0.3% decline in September. Growth in new sales being agreed is running at 4-5% per month and this is continually eroding the stock of homes for sale," he added.
"In contrast, levels of demand have grown by 3% in the last 2 months. Improving confidence amongst buyers has been fuelled by low mortgage rates and positive news on a recovering housing market."
