Can I do an IVA if my house is in negative equity?

With house prices falling, more and more people are finding that their properties are in negative equity. We consider what effect this will have if you use an IVA to deal with a personal debt problem.

You do not need to be a home owner to carry out an individual voluntary arrangement (IVA). However an IVA solution can be very useful if you own a property because it is legally binding on your creditors.
