empty homes policy Bath council
A new carrot and stick approach is to be used to bring Bath’s empty properties back into use.
The Government is keen to see action to tackle the thousands of empty properties up and down the country which have been vacant for more than six months, of which around 500 are in Bath and north east Somerset.
The council points out that many of the homes officially classed as empty will simply have been on the market for a long time or the subject of probate arrangements, and the percentage of the overall stock lying vacant is only 0.7 per cent.
