A Gothic tower for £1: Owner must accept this nominal sum due to a huge £1.7m repair bill | Mail Online
Hadlow Tower, a Victorian Gothic landmark for sale in the village of Hadlow, Kent, should be the kind of unique property that has a queue of bankers lining up to buy it.
Instead the owner, successful international hotel developer Michael Kiesser, is being evicted and has until January to find a new home.
The historic Grade I-listed tower, Michael's home for the past 24 years, was badly damaged in the great storm of 1987. Now the local council has declared it needs at least £1.7 million spent on essential repairs, making the building virtually unsaleable.
