Semi-finalist from The Apprentice defends property dealings

A contestant on BBC reality show The Apprentice has defended his actions in the property market. London's Jamie Lester has been accused of brokering property deals in the disputed territory of Northern Cyprus by the Cyprus Mail.

They've accused The Apprentice semi-finalist, who was fired by Lord Sugar last night, of selling the homes of Greek Cypriots who fled the northern half of the island when Turkey invaded in 1974 and illegally occupied it. Until 2009, Lester ran an overseas real estate agency called NCI.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Lester last night defended his business dealings, saying: ‘All properties I have dealt with have supporting documents. I cannot be held responsible for the land.'

It follows a court ruling earlier this year that saw a UK couple forced to destroy their home, return the land to the family who owned it pre-1974 and to pay rent in arrears.
