American mall tycoon David Simon has stepped up efforts to gain control of Capital Shopping Centres after offering to fund the bulk of the UK property giant's £1.6billion takeover of the Trafford Centre.
Simon, whose Simon Group is the largest shopping mall operator in the US, yesterday said he'd be willing to buy £800million of new shares in CSC, with proceeds used to buy the Manchester retail mecca.
