Biz Briefing: London Housing Market Bucks Trend | Business | Sky News


The property website Rightmove, which says it advertises nine-tenths of all homes for sale, said house prices in England and Wales jumped 3.1% over the past month taking the average selling price to £230,020.

But in London asking prices jumped 4.2% with the average home in the capital costing £430,680 - nearly double the national average.

:: Commercial property in the capital also picked up with Hammerson returning to profitability over 2010, after a staggering loss the year before.

The property group made pre-tax profit of £620m in 2010, compared to a loss of £453m the year before.
