Bronfman's 'Muppet' mansion up for sale
The next best thing to owning a home on Sesame Street is about to be within the grasp of the very wealthy, as Edgar Bronfman Jr. puts the former "Muppet Workshop" townhouse on the market in New York.
The neo-Georgian property in Manhattan's plush Upper East Side will not quite be priced at the "gazillion dollars" that Elmo, one of the Muppets characters, once estimated a place on Sesame Street might cost. But Bronfman is expected to seek around $28 million US for the red-brick home, which overlooks actor and director Woody Allen's backyard.
Bronfman, chief of Warner Music Group, bought the townhouse in 2008 for $28.5 million, and is reportedly selling because he now spends more time in London.
