Home truths: House won¿t sell because of its short lease | Mail Online
My uncle died two years ago leaving a terrace house in a nice road in Southport, Merseyside. I put it on the market at £120,000 but it has not sold.
A solicitor told me the lease has only 47 years left and it is not possible to extend it.
He said it will cost £38,300 plus legal costs to buy the freehold. Does this sound right to you? Is there any way that the house can be sold otherwise ?
