The average house price in the North fell by 7.7% last year according to the latest University of Ulster Quarterly House Prince Index.

Produced in partnership with Bank of Ireland and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, the index shows that after an optimistic start to 2010, prices slipped back in the second half of the year.

The university’s survey of 110 estate agents for the final quarter of the year found the overall average price of a house to be £149,795.
