Remortgaging: Should you stay or go? | Mail Online

Is it better the devil you know in today's troubled mortgage market? Lenders are trying to persuade their customers that they can save a lot of hassle - as well as a decent amount of cash - by sticking with them at remortgage time.

But conventional wisdom says you can always get a better deal by shopping around. So who is right?

The case for staying put: Avoiding the hassle of switching lender is no small thing in today's market, not least because worrying numbers of borrowers are currently paying nonrefundable application fees on new loan deals only to be rejected because their new lender undervalues the property or doesn't like something on their credit report.
