'Sale-and-rent' shamed for 'shoddy' advice | This is Money

'Sale-and-rent' firms are telling homeowners to sell their house without checking they can afford to rent it back, with some acting with no FSA authority, Which? has claimed.

Which? Money said that its researchers had found widespread malpractice among 'sale-and-rent-back' firms, which offer to buy the homes of struggling owners, and then rent the property back to them so they do not have to move.

The consumer organisation said it had reported two sale-and-rent-back firms to the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for acting without regulation, following its investigation. Which? did not name the firms.
