Moving house? Don't put yourself at risk of ID theft and fraud | This is Money

Hundreds of thousands of homeowners are at risk of identity theft each year by not telling banks, insurers and utility firms they are moving home.

Up to 23% of home movers take two weeks or longer to update companies with new address details, exposing them to identity fraud, according to research by the Royal Mail.
Failing to update banks, credit card providers, utility companies or other firms who send you post can increase the risk of identity theft, as potentially confidential information could fall into the wrong hands.

  1. Great advice! If you don't manage to change all your addresses before you move, post redirection from the post office is a great way to make sure all post comes to you and doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
