House prices in the South 65% higher than in the North | News

For the same asking price as a two-bedroom flat in Putney, buyers can pick up a stunning Georgian house in Yorkshire.

This yawning North-South divide between London house prices and the rest of the country will only worsen during the next five years, property experts say.

The gloomy warning for thousands of hard-pressed Londoners trying to get a foot on the housing ladder comes with average prices in the capital already two and a half times more expensive than the cheapest parts of the country.
