The Press Association: Friends gave £1m to tycoon's wife

Sir Philip Green was among friends who paid over £1 million to help maintain the "destitute" wife of a London-based tycoon fallen on hard times, the High Court has been told.

The high-profile billionaire alone paid some £200,000 towards the living costs of Michelle Young and her children as her marriage crumbled, a judge heard.

Mrs Young, 47, is involved in a long-running, bitter divorce battle with her property dealer husband Scot Young and has accused him of hiding his assets in offshore accounts and tax havens, leaving her penniless.
