TO the outside world, he was a respected self-employed businessman with nice suits and a £104,000 income from the the buy-to-let property boom.
But ,Turkish-born Bahadir Telli, now 28, was carrying out an extraordinary deception to use a fake Italian passport in nearly £1million worth of mortgage applications to fund the property empire.
Father-of-two Telli, who lives in a five-bedroom £300,000 home at St Nicholas’ Drive, Beverley, entered the UK in 2003 on a tourist visa and set about building a fast food and property business. At the age of 23 he was granted leave to stay in the UK in 2006 as a self-employed businessman - but was never granted citizenship.
