BBC News - Rumer Godden's Dumfriesshire country home up for sale

The Scottish country house where author Rumer Godden spent the last 20 years of her life has gone on the market.

Ardnacloich, near the village of Moniaive in Dumfriesshire, has an asking price of £638,000.

The author, who published novels, biographies and children's books, is known for works including Black Narcissus and The Greengage Summer.

She was born in Eastbourne, in the south coast of England, and died in Scotland, aged 90, in 1998.

She moved to Scotland following the death of her husband in 1973, living with her daughter in Moniaive from 1978.
