Landlords benefit as rental prices soar | This is Money
Rental prices have risen 4.9% over the past year meaning good news for landlords, as supply continues to dry up, and bad news for those renting their properties.
The average monthly rent was £860 in March, up £40 from £820 this time last year, according to the latest rental index from FindaProperty.com.
And the other stand-out figure is the fact that supply has dropped a mammoth 35% since its peak in April 2009, as the competition for rental properties continues to grow.
This means that those who are renting are being squeezed for an extra £40 per month compared to last year with rents consistently rising.
However, the research shows that there is a wide variation across the UK when it comes to whether rental prices have increased or not.
