TV's Castaway island goes on the market for £2m | Mail Online

It is more than a decade since its rugged landscape and beaches provided the backdrop to the televised travails of castaways.

Then, 36 strangers were put ashore on uninhabited Taransay to spend a year being filmed by the BBC for a ground-breaking social experiment that was to dramatically change so many of their lives.

Now, the tiny Hebridean outpost of Taransay hopes to welcome another set of inhabitants after it was put on the market at offers over £2million.
That is a hefty profit on the modest £300 the island cost last time it was put up for sale 44 years ago.
