It's boom time for second homes as two-thirds of houses are snapped up in some areas | Mail Online

Around half of properties in some parts of Britain are second homes, research reveals.

The report says the demand for second homes is booming, despite the recession. And an appetite for a ‘staycation’ – holidaying at home, rather than abroad – is fuelling the boom.

Families are rushing to buy a second home as a weekend retreat, and to use at half-terms and holidays.
