Borrowers hunting for mortgage security have seen the lowest five-year rate slashed to 3.64%.

The low rate is being offered by Accord Mortgages, the broker-only lending arm of Yorkshire Building Society, and takes the best five-year fix almost to the lows seen last autumn.

Borrowers must pay a hefty £1,995 fee and stump up a 25% deposit. Those who would rather pay a lower fee of £995 can secure a 3.84% rate.
