Buy in Weymouth in time for the Olympics - Telegraph

The Olympics are still more than 10 months away, but Britain already has winners. The people and the housing market of Weymouth in Dorset are basking in glory.

The town, along with the limestone island of Portland linked to it by a road bridge, will host the sailing events for the Olympics and Paralympics next summer. This will mark the culmination of a remarkable turnaround.

Until recently, Weymouth was considered an ugly duckling on the south-west coastline. It was neither as well-heeled nor as blingy as Poole and Sandbanks to the east, and less charming than the exquisitely preserved smaller ports of Dartmouth and Salcombe to the west.
