BROMLEY in south-east London manages to be close enough to London for an easy commute by train but still retain that rural feel with its proximity to Kent and plentiful open spaces.

The borough didn’t escape the property price crash of 2008/9 but has bounced back better than many other parts of the country. In February 2008 the average house price in Bromley reached the dizzy heights of £311,984. Today the Land Registry puts the average price at £283,826 with the trend this year creeping upwards
