Online House Hunter: Willesden and Kensal Rise | Alan Cleaver | Independent Property Blogs

PERIOD properties dominate in the Willesden and Kensal Rise suburb and that means some substantial homes up for grabs – and plenty of choice for renters since many of them have been converted into multiple-occupancy.

It seems harsh to describe Willesden as the poor man’s Hampstead but most estate agents admit that in NW10 you can find keener prices for the same sort of property that you can buy up the road in Hampstead or Maida Vale. The regeneration that started in the 1980s continues apace and its excellent transport links mean this part of London is always going to remain popular.

When moving to a unfamiliar part of London, it can be hard to equate your tube map with the location of your potential new home. There are a number of tube maps which reveal the true location of the lines to the ‘real’ world but the one I have bookmarked is Tube JP (London Tube Journey Planner). It allows you to plan routes using tube or bus so you can work out the commute. Depending on where you want to live in NW10 you have the choice of Jubilee, Metropolitan or even Bakerloo line, and there are plenty of buses to choose from. So if you’re looking for a two-bedroom house for sale in Willesden, simply zoom in to the location on the map and you’ll be shown the nearest tube or bus stop.
