Homebuyers and businesses to get more help with credit as PM draws plans to get economy moving | Mail Online

Homebuyers and businesses are to get more help with credit as the Government struggles to kickstart the economy, David Cameron signalled yesterday.
The Prime Minister insisted Britain must not divert from austerity measures. But he suggested that the Treasury could do more to extend the benefits of the low interest rates on government borrowing.
Mr Cameron is understood to have asked Chancellor George Osborne to draw up plans to extend state guarantees for mortgages, housing projects and major infrastructure schemes.
Apparently stung by criticism of the Government’s latest legislative programme, the Prime Minister said: ‘People asked why we didn’t have more economy Bills in the Queen’s Speech. If you could legislate your way to growth, obviously we would. The truth is you can’t.’
