If you are in one of the more than 4million cohabiting couples in Britain, you may think your accountant is the last person to persuade you to take a trip down the aisle, or, more discreetly, to the registry office.
But tax experts say getting spliced can save you and your family thousands of pounds in the long run, and potentially save your descendants from financial hardship. And if saying "I do" is a step too far, then at least make sure you plan for the unexpected, experts say.
