What used to be the living quarters for American Idol contestants has now been transformed into a fancy weight loss center. Now named Destination Fit4LA, the center boasts ten bedrooms and sixteen bathrooms, as well as top-of-the-line fitness equipment, specialized meal plans and all kinds of other cushy amenities. Of course, participants have to pony up for the privilege of living in the hallowed halls of American Idol. The experience will cost each guest a minimum of $5,300 each week.
It turns out that the whole American Idol thing was always planned as a temporary side venture. The owners of Destination Fit4LA have had the property for a long time, but they weren’t immediately prepared to turn it into a fitness center. So why not make a little cash on the side? They did just that by offering the house up to American Idol. A smart decision, since there’s a good chance that at least a few of their guests will be Idol devotees. What better way to attract business than to bribe an Idol obsessive with the chance to stay in their favorite finalist’s former room?
According to Destination Fit4LA’s website, the mission of the fitness center is to equip guests with the tools to integrate the healthy practices they learn into their everyday lives. We’re assuming this means that the average guest’s everyday life includes gourmet meals and massive pools, right?
