It is hard not to pause for thought in the master bedroom at this handsome house in Bathgate Road, Wimbledon. After all, it once belonged to the late racing driver James Hunt, who was as famous for his lifestyle off the track as for his ruthless skills on it. Geographical details are mercifully sketchy, but it is fair to assume that he got up to a fair bit of mischief within this light and airy, south-east facing interior. Or perhaps one of the property’s seven other bedrooms?
Probably best for potential buyers to banish such notions. But Hunt was an unforgettable Englishman, whose fame has lasted long after his death in 1993. And not just because of his blond, flowing locks.
