Finn McCarthy cuts a loaf (Waitrose, naturally) into large chunks and goes into the park outside her house. I’ve already seen the deer, or some of them: a group of dappled backs here, some antlers there. Armed with the bread, we’re going to get closer. The axis deer are the friendliest of Finn’s five breeds. They come bounding over as we approach, one eating from her hand. She feeds them quickly, before the old buck, known as Mr Greedy for reasons that quickly become obvious, comes and wolfs the lot.
