Online House Hunter: Commuter homes | Alan Cleaver | Independent Property Blogs

FOR many the deciding factor for that perfect house is its proximity to the station.

Fortunately in this internet age the days of trudging round the streets looking for a For Sale board or calling at each estate agent is over. Tap in the town onto a property search engine and most will also provide a map giving the location of homes for sale.

On our own property search engine for example, if you are looking for a two-bedroom home for sale in Basingtoke you’re presented with a map with ‘for sale’ signs. Zoom in on the railway station and you can see at a glance which houses are closest to the station. If you’re looking for a home for sale in central London you will also see tube stations marked. A filter at the top of the page allows you to choose homes of a particular value or a particular number of bedrooms. And you can sign up for an email alert to let you know when new properties in that area come on the market.
