CONFIDENCE is returning, the mortgage sector is freeing up and buyers are once more showing interest.
But the recovery in the housing market, on which so much of the UK’s economic activity depends, is still not clear cut.
While data released this week suggested the market is returning to some of its buoyancy – though not on the scale of its peak in the mid-2000s – there are still warnings that underlying trends betray a weakness in the sector.
