The great mortgage payback slows as Britons feel the austerity pinch | Mail Online

The rate at which Britons have been paying down mortgages has slowed sharply, according to figures published today by the Bank of England.
It comes as the UK faces up to an austerity squeeze that is forcing consumers to tighten their belts.

A whole range of High Street names have admitted hitting financial trouble in recent weeks with some, such as Moben, Habitat and Focus DIY, being forced to call in the administrators.
