For sale: A romantic 13th-century chateau in Gascony - Telegraph

Five years ago he bought a gloriously romantic 13th-century chateau in the low-key south westerly region, nestled at the foot of the Pyrenees.

“It is the most uninhabited part of France and the scenery is very reminiscent of Devon, but it is very tropical in climate,” says de Savary. “It is by far the best part of France – if you know it.” Agen regional airport is around 16 miles away.

De Savary describes an idyllic lifestyle at the Chateau du Feuga, tootling around medieval villages, dining at rustic local restaurants, days out skiing and whiling away the hours relaxing at the hilltop chateau, which has seven bedrooms (one of which is located in the tower), a library and snooker room, within 39.5 acres of grounds.
