ANYONE who has watched Canary Wharf develop over the last 30 years can’t help but be impressed. Once the docks closed in 1980 the stage was set either for death and decay or revival and renaissance. Fortunately it was the latter.

Canary Wharf has become synonymous with the business world and it’s probably fair to say that being a ‘new town’ it is still trying to find its identity and heart as a residential neighbourhood. But there are signs that is starting to come, particularly through some of the cultural activities in the area.

What undoubtedly sways it for most house-hunters are the delightfully easy transport links into central London. The rebirth of the Thames along this stretch is also seeing increasing opportunities for river commuting.
