Selfridges boss Galen Weston strengthens his fort - Telegraph

As the boss of Selfridges, Galen Weston is used to winning plaudits for stylishness. The Canadian billionaire may, however, provoke criticism with a programme of renovations that he proposes for Fort Belvedere, the historic property he owns in Windsor Great Park.

Weston and Hilary, his Irish wife, who are friends of the Duke of Edinburgh, have submitted a series of applications to improve the Bombardier’s Cottage at the property, which is where Edward VIII lived with Wallis Simpson.

The plans include erecting a first floor, removing the floorboards and joists and installing new underfloor heating.
