Rocketing mortgage arrangement fees are catching out struggling first-time buyers and remortgaging homeowners, a report by consumer watchdog Which? showed today.
Banks and building societies have hiked the costs of arranging their loans by almost 70 per cent in just three years on average.
The result is that borrowers are deceived into apparently tempting mortgage deals with low headline interest rates - but the higher fees then actually make them more expensive overall.
