Assetz® News - Property market 'set for more first-timers'
An increasing number of first-time buyers are expected to enter the UK property market over the coming 12 months, according to new projections.
Approximately 27% of people who are planning to buy a home over the next year will be getting on the property ladder for the first time, research by property website Rightmove revealed.
That figure is up from 23% a year ago, although it is still considerably below the figure of around 40% that was seen before the financial crisis.
The poll also uncovered some variations in the profiles of would-be first-time buyers, depending on whether they were university-educated or not.
Prospective first-time buyers who are graduates have an average age of 30, compared with 32 for school-leavers.
