Number of first-time buyers expected to increase over the next year | This is Money

The number of first-time buyers in the next 12 months is set to increase, driven by a wave of university graduates aiming to get on the property ladder with their parents’ help, survey findings have indicated.
Roughly 27 per cent of those planning to buy a home in the next year will be doing so for the first time, property website Rightmove has found – this is an increase on the 23 per cent who said the same this time last year.
However, despite the expected increase in first-time buyers, the figure remains ‘painfully shy’ of the 40 per cent level typically seen before the economic turmoil.
