I want to remove my father from my mortgage – will he have to pay tax? | Money | guardian.co.uk

Q As I could not obtain a mortgage I got a joint mortgage with my father: the property is worth £165,000. My father also jointly owns with my mother a property worth £160,000, on which there is no mortgage. I want to remove my father from the mortgage and take on full ownership of the property. My father and I own equal shares in the property but he has not contributed financially, as I pay the whole of the mortgage payment every month. Will I be liable for tax in the future if I have full ownership of the property? NN
