The Football Association has secured £50m from Legal & General Property in a landmark deal that could pave the way for the revival of the England international team.

The fund manager is poised to buy a proposed 228-bed Hilton hotel at the 330-acre St George’s Park coaching complex in Burton-on-Trent, which the FA hopes will foster a new generation to follow Bobby Moore’s ‘Boys of ‘66’.
