£1,000 to fix problems hidden by home sellers | Mail Online

Sellers are landing homebuyers with bills of more than £1,000 to fix problems they have hidden, a study reveals.
Among the tricks are covering up damp patches on walls with a picture or moving furniture to conceal it.
Another is turning down the central heating so that an ailing boiler does not make too much noise.

Some desperate sellers even stop a tap from dripping by sticking chewing gum up it.
How far people will go to sell their property was revealed in a survey for the AA.
During the first year of moving into their new home, buyers spend an average of £1,076 on defects they knew nothing about.
