Markets see MPC interest rate rise coming in May | This is Money
Recent gloomy news on the UK economy has made a Bank of England interest rate rise this week unlikely, according to the markets and economists.
The money markets have priced in a 10-to-15% chance of a rate increase on Thursday, rising to 66% at the May meeting, 85 to 90% when the MPC meets in June and 100% by the July meeting.
The MPC has kept the official rate at an all-time low of 0.5% for two years now, but pressure has mounted for a rate rise as inflation has stayed consistently above target.
