Thieves stoop to a new low... by stealing lead from roofs of MODEL VILLAGE | Mail Online
A group of thieves carried out an extensive mission and caused £1,500 worth of damage, just to steal a piece of lead from the roof of a model building worth £30.
The gang set out on a detailed reconnaissance of Merrivale Model Village in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, ahead of the theft to avoid being caught on CCTV.
They then used the cover of darkness to scale a nine foot brick wall before using specialist tools to cut through a razor sharp barbed wire fence.
But despite their well-planned operation the thieves made off with just one piece of lead from the roof of a miniature hospital.
