'Generation rent' spells end of British home ownership boom - Telegraph
Almost two thirds of those still looking to get their foot on the home ownership ladder believe they have no prospect whatsoever of buying a home, with the difficulties in obtaining a mortgage cited by many.
Furthermore, only five per cent of a this group, dubbed Generation Rent, are making sacrifices to save for a deposit.
The other 95 per cent either had no spare cash, no interest in saving or were trying but failing to do so.
Despite that, 77 per cent of the non-home owners among the 8,000 25-40 year-olds surveyed by the National Centre for Social Research still aspired to owning their own home.
