Tenants wanting to jump onto the housing ladder will have to pay out a deposit 10 times the size of that needed 20 years ago.
From 1990 the average housing deposit has risen from £6,793 to a staggering £65,924 -despite household incomes less than tripling in the last 20 years.

During the past two decades, house prices have more than quadrupled, while the average household income has grown by two and a half times.
