For sale: JK Rowling's £2.25m home where Harry Potter books were written - Telegraph

In a week where all the attention has been on JK Rowling’s new novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy, it turns out there’s something else of hers that is for sale. Her Edinburgh home.

Standing in the city’s upmarket enclave of Merchiston, the handsome, 19th-century mansion is on the market for £2.25m. It has eight bedrooms, landscaped gardens and masses of original cornices and fireplaces.

There is also a purpose-built office at the back, suitable for creating global bestsellers (at least four of the seven Harry Potter books were written there). In normal circumstances, of course, this would be the ideal opportunity for curious Muggles to have a good snoop around the author’s private quarters, hoping for insights into the JK lifestyle and looking out for wizards’ wands and sorting hats.
