Leaked Cabinet letter warns Cameron of 40,000 homeless because of welfare cuts | Mail Online

Plans to cap family welfare payments at £500 a week could make 40,000 people homeless, a Cabinet minister has warned David Cameron.

The claim has been made in a letter to the Prime Minister from the private office of Communities Secretary Eric Pickles by his aide Nico Heslop.

He warns that the estimated £270 million annual savings from the plan could be wiped out by the cost to local authorities of rehousing families who can no longer afford to pay for their accommodation.
