Kingshill House: If these walls could talk, what a story they’d tell - Telegraph

Kingshill House: If these walls could talk, what a story they’d tell - Telegraph

A house is more than just bricks and mortar to its owners. It is a home, with a character all of its own. And every great character has some great stories to tell.

In this tough market, a historical or cultural connection can be just what a property needs to give it an edge and ensure a sale.

Castles and keeps are the classic examples. Who wouldn’t want to be associated with battles, royalty and court intrigues? But they are not the only buildings to benefit from historical and cultural cachet.

A newly renovated mansion dating back to the 15th century and a collection of cottages at Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire come with oodles of both. They are being marketed with links to the mysterious millionaire John Paul Getty and the British Film Institute, as well as a rich British history.
