THE latest Land Registry figures show the average price of a house in England and Wales has dropped 2.6% in the last year to £162,347. The figures are also broken down by type of house – detached, semi-detached, terraced and flat/maisonette. Terraced housing once again comes in at the cheapest type of housing to buy with the average now being £124,060.

There are presumably enough luxury flats and maisonettes on the market to push that average up to £151,441. Semi-detached homes come in at £153,004 and detached at £255,205.
