As a nation of proud homeowners, you might assume that most of us yearn for a palatial property to impress.
But the typical Briton’s dream home is in fact not an opulent mansion or listed period gem – it is a far more realistic four-bedroom detached new build in the country, with half an acre of land and a sea view, a survey revealed yesterday.
Other features of the average buyer’s ideal property include four bathrooms, two of them en suite, as well as two rooms specifically for the children, such as a playroom and a den.
